The Richmond center is about the area of Richmond Centre Mall and the area of Aberdeen Centre.
Richmond enjoys a temperate west coast climate thanks to its proximity to the Pacific Ocean. This unique city is surrounded by water. It is made up of two large islands and 15 smaller islands. Temperatures are comfortable throughout the year, dipping to 33 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter and peaking at 75 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer. Unlike the rest of Canada, Richmond rarely even sees snowfall.
The winters are known for fog, though, so if you plan on spending a lot of time in the city's extensive park system or boating on the water, you may wish to visit in the summer months. It's also recommended that you dress in layers, as the weather can sometimes change suddenly in Richmond. The summer months also bring outdoor festivities, like the city's famous night markets, and the Steveston Salmon Festival held on Canada Day (July 1st or 2nd) each year.
Since Richmond, BC, is an international destination, you're less likely to find AAA, AARP, or military discounts at hotels in town. You will, however, find several hotels that offer long-stay discounts, group discounts, and special internet only rates. There's something about Richmond that feels both familiar and yet fascinating. Charming yet mysterious, approachable but appealing, Richmond's allure has drawn many film crews over the years to its wharves, piers, and streets. Movies and television shows alike have filmed in the city's sites, including Steveston Village, hospitals, schools, and even Vancouver International Airport. Vancouver and Richmond make more cameos on film than anyone probably realizes. That's why Vancouver has earned the nickname, “Hollywood North.” In recent years British Columbia has ranked as the third-largest film hub in North America, behind only Los Angeles and New York, in close competition with Toronto, ON.
The city really hit the world stage with the coverage of the Vancouver Olympics. The city built a multi-million dollar speed-skating arena for the occasion, which has since been converted into a venue for local sports and events — the Richmond Olympic Oval.
With the installation of the new Canada Line train, it's now even easier to go between Vancouver and Richmond. The 25-minute train ride is conveniently accessible 20 hours a day.
Charming and quirky, an island escape to Richmond, BC, is a fun, off the beaten path journey that you won't soon forget.
Surrounded by the Canadian communities of Burnaby, Vancouver, Delta, and New Westminster, the coastal city of Richmond is best known as the site of speed-skating events during the Winter Olympics last 2010. Richmond is one of the Canadian West Coast's successful small cities. Located 25 minutes from the United States' border and 20 minutes from Vancouver's downtown area, almost everything is accessible in the city. The city transformed from a rural patch of land into a suburban international city, renowned for its ideal neighborhood vibe. Richmond undergoes constant development, as the state-of-the-art Canada Line rapid transit system has been built to meet the demands of the winter Olympics. The dynamic urban center enjoys natural areas, waterways, and industrial parks alongside agricultural lands. Richmond's estuary provides a perfect venue for bird-watching and fishing activities. Thousands of birds migrate yearly between South America and the Arctic. The city also enjoys a multi-ethnic community, with a population comprised mostly of Asian descent.

I thought that the nearby mall (CF?) was very good and enjoyed the glassed sky views that allowed a sunset's light through. Lots of shops I'd never seen before or hadn't been to in quite some time. Not too busy and the food court had some pretty impressive offerings. Can't wait for BASHA to be ready there. I'd come back to Richmond for that mall.
