The Markham center is about the area of Pacific Mall and 3 miles east of Joker's Theatre & Comedy Club.
Most people visit Markham during the summer. The warm temperatures and abundance of street festivals make May through August extremely vibrant and busy. You might experience higher hotel prices during these months, however, because of the increased demand. Additionally, you'll battle crowds on the street and in establishments, so if you get stressed out by the commotion, consider visiting during a different time of year.
The fall can prove beautiful and comfortable in Markham. There's a bite to the air, but truly cold weather won't set in until late October. You'll see the trees change color, which can make your travel photos even more interesting, and hotel prices will begin to decline.
If you visit Markham during the winter, don't forget to pack your heaviest winter coat. Temperatures can dip well below freezing, and you might face icy or snowy roads. While you'll save considerable cash on lodging, you might not want to spend much time outdoors. However, there are a few ski destinations within driving distance of this city, including the highly rated Scarborough Cross Country Ski Club in Scarborough.
You can get senior and AAA or CAA discounts at several Markham hotels, including the Comfort Inn Toronto Northeast and the Courtyard by Marriott Toronto Markham. Additionally, most of the chain hotels in this city offer discounts for early birds. Book your rooms at least six weeks in advance for great savings.
When you're shopping for value, you have several options in Markham. For instance, the Monte Carlo Inns - Downtown Markham offers plenty of amenities, from free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel to in-room Jacuzzis with premium toiletries. There's a small but perfectly functional indoor pool with lounge chairs and enormous windows overlooking the grounds. The fitness room features stair-climbers, treadmills, recumbent bikes, and weights, as well as yoga supplies.
When you first arrive, you'll find a lovely arched lobby with marble floors and gorgeous chandeliers. Head up to your room, where you'll find Beautyrest signature mattresses and Monte Carlo duvet comforters. The large LCD flat-screen TVs make it easy to enjoy a movie at night before bed, and the ergonomic rain shower heads turn every shower into a spa-like experience. The free healthy-start breakfast will save you from spending cash on the most important meal of the day. Plus, you'll get a free newspaper every weekday morning and access to the coil-operated guest laundry facilities.
You'll also find plenty of value at the Hilton Toronto/Markham Suites Conference Centre & Spa. This hotel is ideal for business travelers who want to relax in comfort and style, but it also hosts plenty of pleasure travelers. After you check in, you'll completely forget that you're in a budget-friendly establishment. High-end perks include a heated indoor pool and hot tub, video conferencing equipment, an ATM in the lobby, an on-site convenience store, and a complimentary hot breakfast in the morning.
You can order room service if you don't feel like leaving your spacious guest room. There, you'll find premium cable channels on the flat-screen television, an in-room safe, free Wi-Fi, a marble bathroom, and a step-in tub. If you want even more luxury, upgrade to an executive suite to gain access to the Hilton HHonors/Executive Lounge. There's a beauty salon on-site if you feel like getting pampered, and rooms come with premium linens that will lure you to sleep every night.
The Pacific Mall is perhaps the most popular destination in Markham. Shop for clothing, home goods, souvenirs, jewelry, and anything else you can imagine. You won't want to miss the Markham Museum, which features historic exhibits dating back hundreds of years, or the Angus Glen Golf Club, where you can hit the links with stunning views of the city all around you.
Markham isn't as famous as Toronto, but it's just as exciting. You'll find plenty to do in this city as well as a wide range of wonderful hotels that will make your visit comfortable and relaxing.
