The Sedona center point is about the area of Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village and the area of Radisson Poco Diablo Resort.
Spring is the most picturesque time to visit Sedona. The area blooms with color as wildflowers create splashes of yellow, orange, and purple against the red rock backdrop. Temperatures are typically between the mid-60s and low 80s, creating the ideal environment for a peaceful hike. The Sedona Yoga Festival takes place in March, followed by the Sedona Bluegrass Festival in April and May. The only downsides to this season are the high prices and big crowds.
Though Sedona's summers are in the upper 90s, Phoenix and Tucson residents still find it a cooler alternative to their hometowns. This is peak tourist season for local visitors, but a slower time for those coming in from out-of-state. If you do visit Sedona during this time, you'll find prices are typically lower.
As temperatures drop in fall, the flow of visitors rises again. The Red Rocks Music Festival takes place in August and September, followed by the Sedona Plein Air Festival in October. Temperatures are still plenty warm in the 70s and 80s, but this doesn't deter fall visitors. Plan to book a room about a month in advance to score a good hotel during this season.
Winter is another slow season in Sedona, and a prime time to find affordable hotel rooms in the area. You can enjoy the Festival of Trees at Tlaquepaque in November and December as well as the Sedona International Film Festival in February. Expect temperatures around the mid-50s with the chance of light snowfall.
Hotel loyalty programs are often the best way to score discounted rates on your stay, particularly if you have a favorite chain. You can use and redeem Wyndham Rewards points at all participating hotels including the Days Inn Sedona. These hotels offer additional discounts for AAA, CAA, and AARP members as well as government employees and seniors. Take advantage of Marriott Rewards with locations like the Courtyard Sedona. Marriott hotels offer other discounts for AAA/CAA members, seniors, government employees, and military personnel.
Don't forget to look for special promotions at the area's luxury hotels as well. The Amara Resort, Arabella Hotel Sedona, and Poco Diablo Resort regularly feature specials for a discount on upgraded stays or special dining credits with qualifying bookings.
If you're looking for a mid-priced resort with plentiful amenities, Sedona is the perfect place to go. It offers several hotels in this range, with features that will make you feel like a VIP without a major hike in price.
The Sedona Summit is a prime example of one of the value-packed destinations in Sedona. Studio rooms feature a kitchenette with a refrigerator, microwave, and toaster as well as dishes, silverware, and cooking utensils. Cable television and a DVD player keep entertainment handy. Upgrade to a one-bedroom suite for comfortable accommodations that include a dishwasher, oven, and stove top in the kitchen.
The Arroyo Pinion Hotel is another reasonably priced pick with ample amenities. The cozy rooms here include microwaves, refrigerators, and coffee makers with Starbucks coffee. Complimentary internet access helps guests stay connected throughout their visit while an ergonomic workspace is ideal for everything from business to blogging. A complimentary hot breakfast buffet gives every morning a little extra excitement. The hotel also features a fitness center, meeting space, and outdoor pool.
If fitness and recreation top your hotel wish list, book a room at the Poco Diablo Resort. This hotel offers four tennis courts, a nine-hole golf course, heated outdoor pool, fitness center, and bike rentals. On-site dining is available at T. Carl's Restaurant, while guests can grab a relaxing drink at The 10th Hole Bar & Lounge. If you need to ease sore muscles from your day's activities, head to the spa for a facial, massage, body wrap, or other treatment.
Sedona is not very pedestrian-friendly, with many of its best highlights located a decent drive from the small downtown. The best way to get around Sedona is by car. If you're planning on hiking, you should invest in a four-wheel drive vehicle, so you can traverse some of the more treacherous roads in the parks. There are some excellent trails accessible only after driving down dirt roads. If you want to explore the back roads without using your own gas, consider a Pink Jeep Tour.
Though you can't easily walk to the trail heads, you'll have plenty of chances to stretch your legs in Sedona. There are over 100 hiking trails in the area. The Cathedral Rock Trail is one of the most popular picks. This is considered a moderate hike, but it's worth noting that the trail is particularly steep.
Try to remain patient as you're traversing the city and give yourself plenty of travel of time if you have an appointment to make. Routes 179 and 89A intersect, forming a “Y” that's notoriously congested, particularly during prime tourist seasons.
If you're looking for a destination where you can enjoy breathtaking views, challenging hikes, and plenty of opportunities for reflection and rejuvenation, there's no better choice than Sedona. Decadent dining, soothing spa treatments, and plush accommodations are the norm in the area, so you can easily book a comfortable hotel that meets all your needs.
Tourists can't help being in awe when visiting Sedona for the very first time. The city boasts of stunning, natural backdrop no less than the red rock monoliths . Thunder Mountain, Cathedral, and Coffeepot. If that is not enough, the city's north end offers the best view of the breathtaking Oak Creek Canyon. Famous for its natural beauty, Sedona has many outdoor activities in store for tourists and locals alike ranging from outdoor adventures such as hiking, biking, horseback riding, camping, fishing, and picnicking. Natural and preserved parks are abundant in Sedona namely Slide Rock State Park, Red Rock State Parks, and Dead Horse Ranch State Park. Various tours are also offered in the city, offering unique ways to explore and enjoy Sedona include hot air balloon tours, jeep tours for scenic drives, and many more. For bird watching enthusiasts, birding can be done anytime of the year in Sedona due to its 4,500 elevation, giving clear views to a great number and varied species of birds. I loved the mountains in the desert. This city has some of the best desert weather and outdoor activities. Plenty of local artists and shops in town. The city is known for a very vibrant southwest cuisine. The resort spas are some of the best as well. It always makes for a very magical getaway. I can't wait to come back.
Love everything about Sedona. Great scenery. Fantastic walks. Really fine variety of shops, dining and entertainment.
The one thing that stood out for both of us was the friendly service we received wherever we shopped or ate. They certainly know how to treat tourists and without exception met our needs. The shops are both unique and carried a variety of merchandise which offered good value for our money. The views were spectacular and we found many places to explore both inside and outside the city. We are seniors and unable to walk great distances, however, found plenty to do and see. The variety of statues around the city depicting native heritage as well as various animals were always a treat to see. The landscaping was well worth a drive to see the unique places nestled up in the hills and in the shopping areas. The views were spectacular and we have many good memories of our time in Sedona. It is indeed a gem! The architecture was also very interesting and the houses blended in with the scenery very well which was a treat. We also noted no speeding cars and overall felt a sense of security that money can't buy.
