The locations of the two main University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Medical Centers are near the beautiful Golden Gate and Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Where major medical discoveries have occurred, people with medical challenges have traveled to UCSF from all parts of the world. The newest facility on forty-three acres in Mission Bay will continue to advance and expand this leading United States medical center. The different locations each do important research and health care. The main centers are just the beginning. The Parnassus site has research laboratories, nursing and dental buildings, as well as a children's hospital. The site is also first in the nation for transplants. The Mount Zion facility has a women's health building and a cancer hospital. This site does major research on the serious illnesses that plague the nation and children's illnesses. Mission Bay has a progressive heart care and prevention center.
