Astoria is a great city!
It is a good place!
I think the biggest attraction for us is the history that is still alive there. As avid boaters, we love Maritime history and the area is full of it! After many years we made a visit to the Columbia River Maritime Museum. So interesting! There's a pier near the hotel that was a working cannery from long ago until recently. There's lots of shops in town. I'd recommend Mo's Restaurant for great fish and chips (and more), and a souvenir - we've brought back Christmas ornaments from each visit. Geno's Pizza & Burgers is very close to the hotel and is very good. My wife's grandfather was stationed at nearby Fort Stevens. We visit the ocean from inside the Fort area. Of course we've been to the houses and school where Kindergarten Cop, The Goonies and Short Circuit were filmed! There's so much more to do than I've listed. It's a great place to see.
Astoria Column and Youngs River Falls.
There are numerous historical sites to see along with excellent nearby museums. Additionally I had no problem finding excellent restaurants!
