The St Simons Island center is about 1 mile northwest of Brunswick McKinnon St. Simons Island Airport and 2 miles north of Downtown St. Simons Island.
The peak time to visit St. Simons Island is from May through August. This resort community experiences warm to hot summers, with daily temperatures over 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Ocean breezes, however, moderate the heat and keep you cooler along the coast. A dip in the ocean or your hotel's swimming pool will certainly help this time of year as well. Rain falls year-round on the island, so remember to pack the gear necessary for a more comfortable trip. Afternoon thunderstorms are typical in August and September.
Major festivals in June and October also draw people to the island, so book your stay soon for the best availability. Traveling to St. Simons Island in the off season is a great idea too. It's not your typical beach vacation, but there's still a lot to see and do in the winter. Hotel rates will be significantly discounted, and you can experience less crowds as well. Winters are mild, with daily highs in the 60s, so you can still enjoy outdoor activities like biking, hiking, or taking an ocean cruise to see the migrating whales.
The Best Western Plus St. Simons offers many different types of guest discounts. There are government military rates, plus special pricing for seniors and AAA members. The outdoor pool and spa area with gazebo and natural landscaping feels secluded and is very pretty as well.
The Holiday Inn Express Saint Simons Island is another newly renovated hotel with great discounts. Below are reviews of the city of St Simons Island, GA from an actual visitor's perspective.
We did not explore the city, as my son was recovering from a surgery and we evacuated for Hurricane Milton. But from what we could see, it looked very cute and quaint.
